Students in Grades 4-8 will be hearing from this ex-NHLer not about sport specialization, but about the importance of developing key life skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and swimming. These skills are essential to numerous sport and play activities, not to mention their payoff in fitness, fun, and friendships.
Thomson will also discuss the connections between physical activity and mood, as well as physical literacy –learning movement skills and patterns – and brain development.
Regency Acres PS was the first to host this event on Monday December 4th, 2017. Rick Hansen PS had their presentation on Tuesday December 5th, 2017. Other Activate Aurora schools are scheduling their presentations in winter or spring of 2018.
Each student will not only enjoy this dynamic presentation, they will also receive a signed photo, an “I met a pro hockey player” sticker, and an Activate Aurora tattoo for participating.
